The Roost Institute

Social science for the
animal advocacy movement.

The Roost Institute is a nonprofit that works to strengthen animal advocacy by putting social science to practical use. Movements accumulate hard-won lessons and then mislay them; groups reinvent the same wheel a county over, and good ideas die for want of a written record. We build the connective tissue — research that asks answerable questions, guides an organizer can act on by Tuesday, and small grants that treat local experiments as experiments.

The Institute keeps a few projects under one roof. Each has its own audience and register; together they cover the arc from a first essay to a funded field test.
